CHAPTER TUTORIALS:
CHAPTER 1 [link]
More to come....

Hello again. We're trying to get this group started, but we can't get it rolling with just three people. If you have any speedpaintings, or you know someone that does, send them a note, and let them know about this group. I think that this group has alot of potential with this idea.

No one knows what speed-painting is, and most believe that it is something useless. Well, unfortunately they've been given the wrong impression because personally, i do a speedpainting everyday, and it shows me new ways. it shows me how to get the lighting right, the mood, and the general picture right down on paper before I begin the painting itself. What most people do is zoom in on 200 % view, and start detailing the piece right off the back. It should be done the other way around. :P Zoom out, maybe to 80% or up till u see the whole canvas fit around ur screen, do some speedy sketches there, and THEN zoom in. This way, there's a sense of direction and purpose. You can always change what you're doing later. Personally, i never really end with what i wanted to make when i started. ALways have a change of mind. Anyhow, that's some basic pro's for speedpainting. It's more like a 'study'. Color, shape, perspective, lighting, mood.

So I hope you guys can get the word out. Thanks.

So... anyone here? Knock, knock...

Hello?

--
I'm what Willis was talkin' 'bout!
hey um how do i start speed painting i'm new to this soooo...........
Well, speed-painting's are concept roughs to be shown to a client who will then pick which one to develop into a final concept. Concentrate on just painting first, get your basics like anatomy, form, color theory, perspective, etc, etc down first and the speed will develop over time as you get better.

Too many new people concentrate on only the speed and not the painting and don't develop any skills. ;)

Hope that helps.
